Closed to the public, Riverside campgrounds present the Kouga River in all its glory. White sandy beaches and crystal clear water dwarfed by lichen covered rock cliffs. Tranquillity and isolation presents a truly relaxing day away from it all.

Riverside is situated along the banks of the Kouga River just before it flows into the wilderness area along our western border. An hour from the camp by 4x4, this isolated river campground presents guests with the ideal isolated wilderness experience next to the water. Endless white virgin sandy beaches surround crystal clear river stretches with pristine riverine vegetation and ample opportunity to swim and relax. Mainly a summer destination with great Bass fishing opportunities and even opportunity to tube down slow flowing calm pools while taking in the tranquillity and serenity of the place is an absolute must for any wilderness enthusiast. By floating down the river on a tube you get to see the river from another perspective and with temperatures often in the deep thirty degrees Celsius it is the best place to be. Small mouth Bass tease you as you cast lure after lure to try and catch them and the surprise when one grabs the rod from your hand is often boosted by the adrenalin rush associated with game fishing. Bass is an invasive species and efforts to catch them could be conservation ally motivated, but the truth of the matter is that it is just plain fun in the sun. All equipment like rods, bait, and tuition provided. We leave from the camp after breakfast and return once it has cooled off enough in the afternoon. Using TerraPi as a base and having access to a totally closed off section of wilderness is a privilege worth sharing with our guest whom often find it the highlight of their wilderness experience.
