4x4 Routes @ R150-00 per vehicle (Day trip)

Compulsory guide required. The land is so big; we don't want you to get lost...

Pack an outdoor lunch for this one - as it takes a full day to negotiate with spectacular views of the wilderness.

This is a fynbos area and vegetation brushes against your vehicle, so don't mind the odd scratch. It’s wild out here...

Challenging mountainous terrain offered on two track farm access routes bordering the most inaccessible reaches of the Baviaanskloof Wilderness area.

Over 100km of farm access roads lead to extremely isolated places on the farm. These roads don’t get used much other than for 4x4 accesses to areas along the border of the farm. Situated along the wilderness, every corner has a ‘Wow factor’ and it is incredible how much space you can access so close to civilization. The roads however are harsh. Not difficult to negotiate, harsh. Rocky, steep and at places challenging. Fynbos grows everywhere in the farm and it is mostly a mountain catchment area in making it at places overgrown slightly and very adventurous. If you have a new vehicle you might want to consider putting that special plastic on your sides as not to scratch too much. If like me you have an old Land Rover, you will have the best time ever.

Most of the routes take a good day to negotiate and we find a great wilderness viewpoint and bring out the Skottel for some ‘Boeries and rolls’ and salads while taking in views that cannot be explained. Some sundowners just before we get back to the camp as all the routes are circular with much to see along the way. Perde Berg is the highest landmark south of the Baviaans and rooftop views of the whole of the Kouga and a large part of the Eastern Cape is visible on a good day. Catering options are available but you can pack your own lunch if the price is an issue. Come and explore... if you dare…
